Before turning on your hoverboard, there are a few things you need to do. Make sure you first have access to proper safety gear such as a helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads. Your hoverboard should be completely charged before you plan on using it – the LED indicators on the board should give you an idea of how much charge is left. If you are using the board for the first time, it’s a good idea to start off near a wall or some other fixture that you can hold for balance when stepping on and off. Be careful of objects that might hurt you if you do happen to fall. Take a deep breath, and follow these tips.

  1. Put your hoverboard on the floor or a flat surface. Make sure the board is on by pressing the power button inside the charger port cover.

  2. Place your dominant foot on the rubber mat of the hoverboard. The running lights should turn on, and the board should go into balancing mode.

  3. Pretend like you are walking up stairs and place your other foot on the board (use a wall or other solid and stable fixture to assist you if necessary).

  4. You might roll a bit at first, but try to keep your feet level. Be sure to place your feet in the middle of the rubber pads.

  • In order to move your hoverboard forward or backward, you simply have to lean your body one direction or the other. To go forward, shift your weight forward. You can slow down or stop by bringing your body and weight into an upright stable position. To move backward, shift your weight and lean your body back.

  • Turning also takes a little bit of practice. To turn in a specific direction, simply lean your body in the direction you wish to go. So if you want to turn right, lean your body to the right. If you want to turn left, lean to the left.

  • To get off of the board, stand in the upright position and step off with one foot at a time. Remember to turn off the board by holding the power button for three seconds and releasing.

Give yourself a little time to get the hang of moving around. You might feel unsteady at first, but the more you practice, the more stable and sure your movements become. Once you start moving around confidently, you’re sure to find riding a hoverboard an exhilarating experience.
